Learn More About Solar and Storage

Learn About Inverters

Inverters convert DC electricity to AC electricity, and enable DC sources including solar modules and battery cells to deliver numerous electrical products and off-takers!

There are multiple different types of inverters with varied capabilities. Learn how inverters interact with different types of equipment.

Inverters require specific electrical conditions to operate. Learn more about these conditions by watching this video!

A special type of power electronics equipment, inverters have several common fault conditions that owners and operators should be aware of to prevent prolonged downtime.

Sufficient monitoring and planning can reduce unnecessary downtime, led to more efficient maintenance, and maximize energy yields throughout commercial operation.

Learn about Trackers

Trackers are one of the two most common solar module mounting systems used for ground mounted arrays. Unlike fixed-tilt arrays that face toward the equator and do not move, tracking arrays roll ro track the Sun's position in the sky from East to West.

While fixed-tilt systems have certain cost advantages and easily support rolling terrian, tracking solar arrays have a higher up front cost but yield greater energy production under the same solar conditions. A tracker's production increase is most prominent on clar sky days.

Tracing systems use sophisticated algorithms to determine the position of the Sun and intelligently position the solar module rows to avoid shading using a motion profile called backtracing.

While tracker technology is fairly mature and has measurable benefits, the mechanical nature of a tracker's moving parts add an additional layer of complexity that can increase maintenance, erode a solar array's performance, and also complicate performance reporting.

Without proper monitoring, visibility of tracking issues that reduce energy yields can be difficult to detect and quantify. Acuity provides tools that allow Operators clear fault indications, the ability to identify root causes, and methods to quantify energy losses.

Learn About Metering

Metering is an assembly of specialized instumentation and measures changes in voltage and current in a circuit.

Current Transformers and Potential Transformers specifications are determined by application.

Metering is used for more than billing. Metering is also used for power quality analysis and protection.

Proper meter operation is critically important for revenue recognition, performance profiling, and equipment protection; ensuring proper configuration and installation is key to successful operations.

Aderis provides a suite of tools for metering support including real time meter readings for all fundamentals, hourly energy summarization with automatic rollover correction, and event capture archive and viewing.

Learn About Transformers

Transformers utilize Faraday’s principle of mutual induction between a two coils of wire that raise or lower voltage to support interconnection with the grid.

Transformer coils are wound to specific ratios, unique to the design of a system's operating voltage vs. the grid's voltage at the point of interconnection.

Transformers are analog devices, without computers or sophisticated electronics. The primary means for monitoring transformer heath are gauges that provide information about the oil.

Preventing transformer failure is accomplished with period visual inspections and oil sampling to identify issues early so they can be corrected before equipment failure.

Aderis provides both hardware and software solutions to detect transformer faults and prevent catastrophic events that could result in prolonged unavailability.
